Last Blog

Today we took our last test today i think i did pretty good i hope i got an A or a high B. I would like my grade to move up to a b because it would help a lot. this class was honestly bad in my opinion  because i dont like history that much. but it wasnt that bad towards the end.

last power point

Today we reviewed  the power point because some people were not in class during class yesterday. It was so much to go over and im gong to study a lot for this test because my grade cant go down a lot. Then we went to the slides that we didn't learn yet. We looked at how Luther was excommunicated but then eventually people started using his practices anyway. I thought this was intresting.

Today we took a lot more notes on the power point, i remember you talking about how you went to john carol's old principal and put the complaints on his door. I thought this was an interesting story and i feel like when ever we go off topic we learn a lot more then just taking notes on the powerpoint, I also thought it was very intresting how you almost became a preist.

DAY7

I think that the united stated might be declining but not as much as Rome did. If the united states went through another great depression that would not be good, because the population of the united states has grown a lot this would mess up even more peoples lives. Romes decline was a lot worse and some people would say that the united states is just fine.

DAY 6

DAY 5

1.Jesus- A leader who came to be known as Christ & was believed to be savior   Apostle-Close follower of Jesus  Paul-Apostle who played a big role in the spread of Christianity throughout history.   Diaspora-Moving away of the Jews from their homeland in Palestine   Constantine-Roman emperor who ended the persecution of Christians   Bishop-Head of all the churches in one area   Peter-First apostle who helped spread Christianity through Syria & Palestin   Pope-Head of all the Christian church     3. Jesus emphasized personal relationships with God, importance of people's love to God, neighbors and enemies. Also, offered eternal life if you repent for your sins   4.They refused to worship the gods of Rome 5.It was the church's basic beliefs

today during class we went over some more of the power point. I thought it was pretty boring because we just do the same thing every class and it gets old...   Chiaroscueo - light and dark.   Humanism- a deep interest in what people have already achieved, as well as what they are capable of achieving in the future.   Secular- values that are worldly.   The Pieta- Michael Angelo in St. Peters Basillica in Vatican City.   DaVinci- Renisaance man- someone who could master fields of work.   Vernacular- your own language (native)     Frescos- when point on wet plaster.  

Got test back

Read pages 468-477 do questions 1,3,4,5 on page 477 1.    Renaissance- the revival of art and literature under the influence of classical models in the 14th–16th centuries. humanism-  a Renaissance cultural movement which turned away from medieval scholasticism and revived interest in ancient Greek and Roman thought. secular-  denoting attitudes, activities, or other things that have no religious or spiritual basis. patron- a person who gives financial or other support to a person, organization, cause, or activity. perspective- a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view. vernacular- the language or dialect spoken by the ordinary people in a particular country or region.

TESt

Today we took our test on Rome and I studied a lot over the fast few days and took a lot of notes but i do not think did very well. I do not understand it try really hard and study for your test and i still don think i did well. I just do not know what else I can do, to study for a test because i studied a lot and i dint remember a lot of it. Also you said t was omly multiple choice quotations and there was two parts that were matching.

DAy 2 rome

Plebeians- Common farmers, artisans, and merchants who made up the majority of the population. Tribunes- Elect representatives. Consul- Commanded the army and directed the government for one year. Senate- The aristocratic branch of Rome's government. Dictator- Leader who had absolute power to make laws and command an army. Legion- The soldiers of Rome. Punic Wars- The wars fought between Rome and Carthage. Hannibal- A fearsome military leader of Carthage. 3. What limits were there on the power of the Roman Consuls? Greco-Roman Culture- The mixing of elements of Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman culture produced a new culture. Both used now and back then Greek and Roman influenced ideas helped create a better and resourceful life.    Pompeii- An ancient place in Italy that was destroyed after a volcano. After this destruction it killed over 2,000 people and covered the whole town in ash.   Virgil- A famous poet who wrote Aeneid.    Tacitus- A notable historian and senator. He didn't agree with Emperor Nero's action because they were said to be the most cruel actions of any ruler.   Aqueduct- Designed by Roman engineers, and they brought water into towns and cities. It was a fast and easy way to transport water.
