today during class we went over some more of the power point. I thought it was pretty boring because we just do the same thing every class and it gets old...   Chiaroscueo - light and dark.   Humanism- a deep interest in what people have already achieved, as well as what they are capable of achieving in the future.   Secular- values that are worldly.   The Pieta- Michael Angelo in St. Peters Basillica in Vatican City.   DaVinci- Renisaance man- someone who could master fields of work.   Vernacular- your own language (native)     Frescos- when point on wet plaster.

Read pages 468-477 do questions 1,3,4,5 on page 477 1.    Renaissance- the revival of art and literature under the influence of classical models in the 14th–16th centuries. humanism-  a Renaissance cultural movement which turned away from medieval scholasticism and revived interest in ancient Greek and Roman thought. secular-  denoting attitudes, activities, or other things that have no religious or spiritual basis. patron- a person who gives financial or other support to a person, organization, cause, or activity. perspective- a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view. vernacular- the language or dialect spoken by the ordinary people in a particular country or region.

Today we took our test on Rome and I studied a lot over the fast few days and took a lot of notes but i do not think did very well. I do not understand it try really hard and study for your test and i still don think i did well. I just do not know what else I can do, to study for a test because i studied a lot and i dint remember a lot of it. Also you said t was omly multiple choice quotations and there was two parts that were matching.

Senate- The aristocratic branch of Rome's government. Dictator- Leader who had absolute power to make laws and command an army. Legion- The soldiers of Rome. Punic Wars- The wars fought between Rome and Carthage. Hannibal- A fearsome military leader of Carthage. 3. What limits were there on the power of the Roman Consuls? Greco-Roman Culture- The mixing of elements of Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman culture produced a new culture. Both used now and back then Greek and Roman influenced ideas helped create a better and resourceful life.    Pompeii- An ancient place in Italy that was destroyed after a volcano. After this destruction it killed over 2,000 people and covered the whole town in ash.   Virgil- A famous poet who wrote Aeneid.    Tacitus- A notable historian and senator. He didn't agree with Emperor Nero's action because they were said to be the most cruel actions of any ruler.   Aqueduct- Designed by Roman engineers, and they brought water into towns and cities. It was a fast and easy way to transport water.
